I personally have done a lot of PPC search engine  marketing, some with excellent success and sorry to say, some with costly mistakes.

Google makes its money on advertising. Those little ads you see on the right hand side of the screen when you search for anything, those ads are PPC ads. What that means is that if you click on one of those ads, Google charges the advertiser anywhere from 10 cents to 10 Dollars depending on how popular and competitive that keyword is.

Example: You are running an offer as an affiliate marketer. Let’s say the offer is for a dating campaign and every time someone signs up you make $5 in commission. You decide to run a PPC campaign and decide to bid on the keyword “romance”.

Let us assume that Google charges you $1 every time someone clicks on you ad. If your commission is $5, that means- one in five people who click have to sign up with that dating site in order for you to break even. If one in ten people sign up, you made $5 but it cost you $10, so in essence you lost $5. The beauty of PPC is that if done right and with the right offers, you could spend $5 and make $10 all day long  (I hope I didn’t loose you).

Many people feel that the size of the list is important… wrong. What is important is the quality of your list subscribers, not the quantity. You could have a list of 100 thousand people who don’t care about your message and your email gets deleted.

There’s a restaurant in my town that I go to occasionally that is quite good. It never seems to be as  full as  it should be.

I asked the owner if he was collecting contact information (email) from his customers.He had what I would call A “Cloudy Moment” he looked at me like I came from the moon. He had no idea that by building a list of his customers and sending out weekly emails about weekly specials, and possibly offering them a discount to come in, that he could increase his business drastically.

And what do you think would happen if that email went on to say “feel free to pass this discount along to friends and family” Do you think he would receive some new customers? I think so.

This method could be used for any offline business. Brick and mortar business owners are really in the dark when it comes to web marketing. You can make serious money if you do it all for them. Have them collect customers emails, and you send out weekly emails for them by using an auto responder like Awebber, it will literally take you minutes to do, and you can charge them a nice fee for the service. These good folks still don’t realize that print media is dead. They advertise on local papers hoping to bring in new customers, when in fact they should be concentrating on their present customers.
